Credit unions reached record mortgage origination market share in the first quarter of 2009. The industry's delinquency rate on mortgages is also well below that of FDIC-insured institutions and their success at modifying loans is much better.
How do I know? Well...there is a lot of information about mortgages out there but it takes some digging to find it all. So, 2 weeks ago, I hosted a free webinar for CUtv/CreditUnions.com on how to get started with mortgage analysis. My colleague Elliott Kashner and I provided a "cheat sheet" of useful sources then spent 30 minutes demonstrating all the new RE account codes from the 5300 using Peer 2.0.
You can watch the event (it's free for Peer 2.0 subscribers) here (password: 061109Mortgage.) If you like all 26 of the graphs and charts we show, you can download them into your own version of Peer using this .CRC file. (Don't know what a CRC file is? Ok. I'll blog about that next.)
